LASIK

LASIK surgery is usually completed in 30 minutes or less.

It is a common refractive procedure that is used to correct short- sightedness /Myopia, Farsightedness/Hyperopia or Astigmatism
Your eyes are perfectly measured to identify the lens that is most suitable for you.
You are then given a topical anaesthesia.
Your eye surgeon creates a small hinged flap away from the front of your eye. The flap allows your doctor to access the part of your cornea that needs to be reshaped.
Using a programmed laser, your LASIK specialist reshapes parts of your cornea. With each pulse of the laser beam a tiny amount of corneal tissue is removed. After reshaping the cornea, the surgeon lays the flap back into place. The flap usually heals without stitches.
You may detect a distinct odour as the laser removes your corneal tissue which is similar to that of burning hair.

Post Operative

You might experience mild itchiness, watery eyes, blurred vision.
You will be given eye drops to prevent pain & infection by the specialist which you need to continue for several days even after you go home.
LASIK specialist might also ask you to wear a shield over your eye at night until your eye heals.
Strictly, do not rub your eyes especially for initial 4-5 days after surgery.
You usually have a clear vision from the very next day onwards.
A follow-up appointment is scheduled with the specialist usually 1-2 days after surgery.
